We are finished in Chadron! Talk about fast stops – this is definitely a crazy year. They got the machines blown off and will be ready to load them tomorrow. Blake had to leave ten acres east of town because it was going to be a few days before it would ripen.
Once they are loaded, it is moving time once again. We will be heading to our sixth and final stop in Circle, MT. It sounds like the winter wheat will be ready here in a week or so but the spring wheat is a ways off. Therefore, who knows how long we will be there.
I took off for South Dakota yesterday (Sunday morning). I made pretty good time and then picked Sarah up from the airport later in the day. I came back for my 20 week appointment, even though I am about 21.5 weeks. I scheduled it a little later so we would hopefully be back closer to home and it wouldn’t be such a trek. Plan was successful.
Sarah came with me to the appointment and we got to see Baby K again. It takes after its mama as it was in a little bundle, completely on the right side of my body. It was sitting Indian style and also had its hands on its face. Sarah had been making fun of my need to use the bathroom but it turns out that the baby’s head is pushing on my bladder.
During the ultrasound, we found out the baby does have some fluid on the kidneys so we will have to have another ultrasound in ten weeks. Typically it goes away on its own but if it doesn’t, basically they’ll be ready for it at birth and then do surgery to avoid kidney damage. My doctor said she maybe has one or two babies a year that will need to have the surgery because they didn’t correct the problem on their own. She wasn’t worried about it and neither am I. Baby K / Blube is 14 ounces, which is right on target. The doctor was happy with my blood pressure and weight gain as well which is good since it has been eight weeks since my last appointment. Since things did go well, she may let me hold off on my next appointment until we are back from harvest, depending on when that is. If it is going to be a while, I’ll have a checkup in Montana. Either way works for me.
Well, that’s all I know. I think I doubled in size in just a few days – at least in the belly region. I think we are approaching growing season here, by the masses.
